Fibre Optic R&D Scientists / Engineers
Job Overview
A small growing company developing and manufacturing fibre optic components and equipment for the global communications, sensing, and scientific research industries is seeking R&D engineers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Successful candidates will be responsible for developing fibre technologies for next generation components and equipment
- Design of optical fibre components using in-house fibre technologies from conceptual design through to prototype/production
- Design of instrumentation for optical fibre test and measurement applications
- Development of new processes for future fibre component manufacture
- Project planning and regular reporting
Skills / Qualifications / Experience Required
The entry level will be dependent on qualifications and relevant experience.
We are seeking hands-on engineers with drive and enthusiasm to make an impact on future product development. Candidates should show a strong self motivation with the ability to operate in a small focussed team and demonstrate high level of problem solving skills.
Candidates will have a minimum qualification of 2:1, in a Physics or Electronic & Engineering. For senior positions the candidate will have a PhD in optical fibre components or a related topic and several years post doc experience in R&D environment, preferably with project management, proposal writing and project reporting experience.
All candidates should have or show an aptitude for in depth understanding of fibre optics technology.
Beneficial areas of experience include optical component devlopment, instrumentation development, knowledge of Lab view programming.

North Kent, Canterbury area.
